Real quick, before I do anything else, I want to talk about Color Theory. “Color Theory?” you say? “Yes, I do.” Why? Because, once a person has a basic understanding of the color wheel, how to mix colors, and how colors relate to each other in color schemes, they may apply this to pretty much any area of life! Take, for example, the following pictures taken from freerangestock.com:
Primary/Triadic Color scheme-Red, yellow, and blue
Analogous from the yellow, yellow orange, red oranges
Split Complimentry sunflowers using purple, yellow, yellow-green, and yellow-orange
Very green! and very Monochromatic!
Complimentary Blues and Orange/yellows: naturally occurring in Creation!
Triadic Color Scheme- variations of blue, yellow, and red
As you can see, because there is color all around us, how we interact with those colors on a daily basis and how we put those colors together can impact a room, a plate of food, an outdoor setting, an outfit, the exterior of a house, etc.. I LOVE IT!!
Once your eyes are opened to this, you’ll see it everywhere. Then, you’ll be able to put colors together well and play around with all the different hues, depths, and variations of each color on the color wheel. The Color Wheel is the origin of all colors. From it, using white and black when needed, any color can be created.
I had planned on giving a brief lesson on mixing colors, the color wheel, and color schemes.
THEN, I thought, why not direct you to some fab online lessons? Here are some great sites and links to learn about color. Give them a try!
