The shower spread was in my dining room and

hanging from the chandelier over the table are

beautiful satin ribbons with tiny silk balls

I can’t really give  the look a name, per se-

its just ROONEY

the color palette was a bright and sweet array
of pinks,limes,yellows and Tiffany blues.

Her parents might want to start discouraging anything
with the word Tiffany in it right now. :)

The Answer to Sheba’s Question

The Answer to Sheba’s Question
The Answer to Sheba’s Question

A couple of weeks ago I asked you a Question-

Which was…

REAL

or Fake??

The ANSWER!!

In above photo, the vase on the right and the

green pot flowers on the left

are the REAL ones,

which means the other two

(small cube in front & Bouquet @ back)

are FAKE.

Thanks for playing Sheba’s Question with us!!

Sheba’s Question

Sheba’s Question
Sheba’s Question

One of my favorite story books when I was small

had beautiful illustrations and stories from all over the world

It had this tale about the

Queen of Sheba asking

a very wise man

(probably Solomon) about flowers

She had her courtesans make two bouquets…

they were so identical and perfect she thought he would never guess...

  One Real

 ONE FAKE

Solomon was able to spot the real flowers
by noticing a bee gathering honey from them:)

So here is a question for you, my readers…

(there is no bee in these photos)

But there are 4 flower arrangements on this table....
Two are the same(both fake or both real)
and the other two are the opposite

Which one or ones are real?

And which ones aren’t?

Have fun figuring out the Fresh or Faux question!

I will tell the answer in a couple of posts.
And the water drops and water in the vases is not what it seems.

Hello Hydrangeas!

 Lace Cap Hydrangea

one of my all time favorites for sure!

these beauties are from my yard!

I call them

“God’s Bouquet Holder”

they act as a perfect base for wedding bouquets!

a white hydrangea is at the base of this bouquet of callas and orchids

and a green hydrangea is at the base of this one

I don’t have an absolute favorite flower… BUT

if I did, the hydrangea would be a top contender!

Color Theory and You!

Color Theory and You!

Real quick, before I do anything else, I want to talk about Color Theory. “Color Theory?” you say? “Yes, I do.” Why? Because, once a person has a basic understanding of the color wheel, how to mix colors, and how colors relate to each other in color schemes, they may apply this to pretty much any area of life! Take, for example, the following pictures taken from freerangestock.com:

Primary door
Primary/Triadic Color scheme-Red, yellow, and blue
Analogous from the yellow, yellow orange, red oranges
split complimentary sunflower
Split Complimentry sunflowers using purple, yellow, yellow-green, and yellow-orange
Very green! and very Monochromatic!
Complimentary Blues and Orange/yellows: naturally occurring in Creation!
Triadic Color Scheme- variations of blue, yellow, and red

As you can see, because there is color all around us, how we interact with those colors on a daily basis and how we put those colors together can impact a room, a plate of food, an outdoor setting, an outfit, the exterior of a house, etc.. I LOVE IT!!

Once your eyes are opened to this, you’ll see it everywhere. Then, you’ll be able to put colors together well and play around with all the different hues, depths, and variations of each color on the color wheel. The Color Wheel is the origin of all colors. From it, using white and black when needed, any color can be created.

I had planned on giving a brief lesson on mixing colors, the color wheel, and color schemes.

THEN, I thought, why not direct you to some fab online lessons? Here are some great sites and links to learn about color. Give them a try!

City of Roses

City of Roses
City of Roses

My hometown Tyler, Texas is the Rose Capital

… of  Texas, anyway!

So for today’s Tuesday Tablescape,

 everything’s coming up Roses!

I had bartered for this small set of china at the

Whitehouse/Red Barn sale

we had last fall.

There were 6 of each…plates, salad plates, cups & saucers and bowls

They are dainty and feminine, with a gold

rim and -alas, have no name. :(

I paired them with my Madison

flatware and an Aunt Nellie Jo

starched white cloth placemat.

 In the above picture,

you can see the detail of the dishes better.

As well as the dime-store ‘cut’ glass tumbler-

which  (for you young folk)

was the “Dollar Store” of my youth.

the vase was my Nana’s

and was filled with Hot Lady roses, pink spray roses,

waxflower, light pink larkspur, and pinky-red anemones

a rose pink runner wound it’s way down the center of the table

and Tuesday Morning clearance Paper Roses

napkins  were the perfect touch!

a couple of photos of this Rose City  tablescape-

perfect for Valentine’s Day!!

I realized as I was scouring my house for Roses

that I have  a LOT  of the be-petaled Beauties….

From Teapots

to paintings

 and  even a cookbook!

So I have – most likely – at  least  a couple more

Rosie scenarios for Tablescapes!

 speaking of couples…

I’ll leave you with a couple of cuties and will be back tomorrow for

Wedding Wednesdays!

 thank you for stoppin’ by
