Sometimes, INSPIRATION hits me in the strangest places.
Like at BIG LOTS, on the paper goods/
cleaning products aisle.
I saw these napkins, at a good price, they
are made by Waverly…like-you know-
the fabric company.
At first glance, I was thinking bandana
pattern…(cowboy cookout?)
but they were this lovely Terra Cotta color
which I HAVE NEVER seen in a
paper napkin before!
on Saturday, we were having some church folks over for dinner...
Bob was grilling some Italian marinated
chicken and I was making pesto
So the terra cotta color spoke to me
and said “Tuscany”
I grabbed the Saint lady my Mom got me from Provence
(as you probably know,Provence is right next to Tuscany, so it works.)
Combined with my terra cotta pots
of fresh basil and the Waverly napkins
I am started to see a look come together…..
wish I’d had more time for creativity,
like fresh basil sprigs tied with twine
on the wine glasses….or corks
used as napkin rings -Somehow??
but I had to get cooking!
First, I made the Pesto
Brenda's Classic Pesto
Combine in Blender:
1 cup fresh basil leaves
1/4 cup sliced almonds or pine nuts
3 cloves peeled garlic
3/4 cup parmesan cheese
3/4 cup olive oil
Pulverize!!
you can stream in a bit more olive oil as needed.
Serve over al dente’ Farfalle or Rotini noodles .
Next, it was time to make the Gorgonzola-Bacon Cheese Dip
or as we sometimes refer to it
Heart Attack on a Cracker
in this case a crustini-made by drying out thin slices of day old JimmyJohn’s Sub bread @ .50 per loaf
it MAY not look that great
but it is scrumptious!!
I won’t give the recipe out right now…..
but the ingredients include a whole package of
BACON , 2- 8 ounce cream cheese, Gorgonzola cheese,
garlic ,heavy cream and you don’t drain
the bacon grease….you use it in the dip. ‘nuf said.
I should’ve used some fresh lavender on the table, too!
Oh well- for the next Tuscan tablescape I will.
Our friends brought delicous
green beans and spring salad with red peppers.
Everything was absolutely Yummy!!
I had these cute floral cocktail napkins* which I got
on clearance at Hobby Lobby, they went great with the color scheme
and with the dessert!
My wreath even matched the dinner theme….
Ok,I feel myself going too far with all this.
So Ta Ta to
Terra Cotta Tuesday Tablescape.
Soon I will show you what’s become of my corner
tea cart, since Valentine’s Day is past and
its still a bit too early for St. Patrick’s Day.
Thanks for stopping by!!
